At Sierra Rose Alpacas, you can feel confident in your purchase of alpacas from us! Our alpacas are from high quality bloodlines. We have many award winning alpacas for sale as well as some pet quality alpacas (not in our breeding program). They are all healthy and sound, ARI registered, comfortable being around people, & are competitively priced!
We will provide you the support you need to get you headed in the right direction for your goals. The alpacas must be going to a good home where they will be protected from predators, and be well and properly cared for. As herd animals, they like being with alpacas, do well with goats and other livestock, and they need to be in a herd environment.
We will help educate you on alpaca care if you need that. For the experienced and selective alpaca breeder, we can add quality genetics to your breeding program. So, bring your request / offer to us, and let us help you make your alpaca dreams come true!
Why do Alpacas make wonderful additions to your family?
Because they are not large (females are usually around 150 pounds, and males average 175), they are easily handled, even by young children. Much more docile than their cousin, the Llama, it is rare to see an Alpaca become upset.
Easy to care for, they don’t require a great deal of room or feed, making them one of the most cost-effective livestock animals to own. They offer the added benefit of helping you to ‘green’ your lifestyle by creating a ‘circle of sustainability’ (see ‘Sustainable Farming with Alpacas’ page) which includes keeping weeds to a minimum, thus improving fire safety on your property, providing manure which composts into a superior organic fertilizer for your garden, and luxurious wool which can be sold or carded into yarn.
At Sierra Rose Alpacas, all our Pet Alpacas have been through a rigorous training program designed to ensure their contribution as a lovely member of your family, with whom you’ll be thrilled for many years to come. Often, our female pets leave to make their new home and are a critical part of young families whose children grow up responsible and compassionate.
- Quietly stand while haltered
- Lead easily without pulling or stopping
- Pick up her feet
- Allow a veterinary examination
- Stand for grooming
- Respect humans; even young children
Only those Alpacas who pass our training program are sold as pets. They receive a certificate showing what they have accomplished in their training, along with a guarantee of health.
We also offer instruction for our ‘new to Alpacas’ families, to ensure you get off to a great start with your Alpaca.
