Sterling is our top breeding male and is out of two award-winning parents. His fiber is fine, crimpy and consistent. He has consistently given us the finest fleece and the best looking cria over the years. He has also placed in the top 1% of EPDs in many categories for many years. He continues to be our “go-to” boy when we are looking to breed for retained fineness with a touch of gray. A recent article in Alpaca magazine that showed a positive relationship between smaller adult size and finer fiber could have used Sterling Knight as the poster boy. Several years ago, we submitted his blanket to competition and it received a first-place ribbon in the 2009 AFCNA Continental Fleece Show and a fourth-place ribbon (out of 10) in the 2009 World Fleece Show! He also took a first-place ribbon at the 2009 Dixon Fair Fleece competition and second place ribbons at the 2009 Nevada County Fleece Show and the 2009 Alpaca Mania Fleece Show. At 9 years of age, his fiber was still in the Grade 3 (super fine) category. If you are looking for retained fineness with a touch of gray, look no farther than Sterling Knight.
